Water as a mediator

Reuse the Abbey

Our lives often involve everyday objects, so much so that we no longer actively see them, instead we take their existence for granted and “it” becomes an abstract representation rather than the actual physicality, proportion, texture, feel.

To regain an “outsider’s” perspective we ought to step back from our-self involved reality and dive deeper into the sensorial stimulus that we receive from the everyday world. By looking inwards more attentively we pay more attention to what is actually happening around us and not just what our mind is tricked into thinking is happening.

Confetti architecture as means of reactivating a post-industrial site. An exercise on revitalizing a distant place.

A column forest that slowly reconquers space and reactivates the site brick by brick. The column as an architectural device, that not only houses the structural and utility needs of a building, but also the essence of the existing site.

Simple enough to be built by hands, the brick column has the potential to be a social device for collaboration. A grid emerges to enable the column network and pavillion modularity that are built within it.
